Healthy Communities Funding, small grants

Small grants are available to disability organisations based in the Bradford Metropolitan District from 1 April 2010 to March 2012.

Maximum grants approved are for up to £1,000 for organisations in any one year (from agreement of first grant) and £500 for individuals from disability organisations. Bids for smaller grants are welcomed and encouraged. Each grant is a one-off grant.

Grants may be considered under the following criteria:

1. Disability organisations/groups without paid staff with a main focus on physical disability and/or sensory needs to:

  • provide services to disabled people
  • involve disabled people in planning and decision-making in the area
  • promote independence and choice
  • encourage disabled people to participate in mainstream activity and/or active citizenship

2. Grants to individual disabled people who are members of recognised smaller disability groups (this includes learning disability and mental health) in the Bradford Metropolitan area.

The grant will enable them to take part in regional and national consultations, events and workshops so that they are can take a more active and informed part in the discussions and planning processes locally.

Individuals will need to get agreement from their organisation to act as recipients for any agreed grant. (or, if their group is not constituted, from both their own organisation and an organisation willing to receive the money on their behalf).
