Shipley Area Safer Communities Grant Scheme 2009/10

The Shipley Area Co-ordinator's Office (on behalf of the Shipley Area Safer and Stronger Communities Partnership) is inviting bids for funding for the Shipley Area Safer Communities Grants Scheme.

The aim of this funding stream is to support community safety activities that have a demonstrable benefit across the Shipley area and should clearly address one or more of the Safer Communities priorities within the Shipley Area Committee Action Plan 2009-2011:

1) Continue to provide highly visible neighbourhood policing
2) Work in partnership to reduce anti-social behaviour
3) Reduce the impact of drug and alcohol abuse in communities.
4) Reduce the overall levels of crime and fear of crime and provide support to victims of violence
5) Reduce vandalism, graffiti and criminal damage.

The normal maximum amount for a single award will be 1,000 but the total amount within the fund is 9,500 so it might be in groups' interests to apply for less than 1,000 if possible. This funding is for one year only and must be spent by 31 March 2010. No continuation funding will be available from this source.

Applications may be submitted by local voluntary, community or statutory partners. Particular encouragement will be offered to groups to delivering activities which will tackle drug and alcohol abuse; reduce vandalism, graffiti and criminal damage; or promote intergenerational activities.

The closing date for applications is Friday 25th September 2009. Groups needing help with applications can contact Linda Cleveland, Area Safer Communities Officer at Shipley Area Co-ordinators Office on 01274 437146 or email linda.cleveland@bradford.gov.uk.
